WHY FIFTH QUARTER ?

What’s different with the off season is you’re basically on your own and nobody is really looking over you so you just try to make a whole routine for yourself, you go to the field and do your stuff… My goal is to get you a great experience getting prepared, getting to the point and making you DB disappear.

Fifth Quarter SA is a personalized training program based on your strengths and weaknesses. We make solid the first ones and eliminate the others. We oversee you from your physical to your athletic training, we work on your strength and agility too. All the things that you need to be a successful athlete on and off the field.

EASE IS THE ENEMY OF PROGRESS

Too many players neglect the off-season and take it upon themselves at the last moment to prepare for the next season. I like to think that the next season begins the day the previous one ends. You can start slowly and take stock of your year, but your goal should already be defined by then. Become better than yesterday and beat today’s version of yourself. It’s obvious that a football season isn’t won or lost in a playoff game or in the final game, it’s played out in the progress made every day during the off-season, the pre-season but also afterward and during the season. It’s in the details, the work you put in and the mindset you adopt. Your mindset will define your success. You beat your opponent in the efforts he won’t make.

Our sessions training programs are designed to help you quicker, accurately, and efficiently at your wide receiver position. I work and trained some of the best receivers in the French and German leagues and it is my job to make sure that they’re always one step ahead of their opponent.

PHILOSOPHY

Fifth Quarter Skills Athletics was founded in July 2023 with the spirit of inspiring and challenging our youth and helping during the off- and preseason the experienced Wide Receivers to perform and play at their best levels.

My mission is to educate, encourage and strengthen them to become premier athletes and exceptional people.

BLOOD, SWEAT AND ATTITUDE

I offer skills training camps that go beyond basic on-field drills, focusing on precise details of the game and its characteristics, going from the basic of the hand’s placement to the route IQ to always have a one step ahead of your DB – Details of the game and its unique positions.

My experiences with great coaches, playing with and against athletes from some of the greatest teams in Europe and beyond, has given me unrivalled advice and access to an elite level of performance. I’m giving back what I’ve received by showing the players who join the Fifth Quarter program that anything is possible if you work hard.

We’re going to take you out of your comfort zone so that if you fall, you have only one choice: get up again and again.

THE DIFFERENCE IS MADE WHEN THE SPOTLIGHTS ARE OFF

ABOUT ME

My name is Didier Dorival (Coach Gene) and I was a receiver with the Paris Flash of La Courneuve (Casque de Diamant) and the Stuttgart Scorpions in the GFL1.

The position of receiver has always seemed natural to me. As soon as I started back in 1998, I was transferred to receiver, where I fell in love with the position and the technique. During my career, I was able to coach the Flash juniors for three years and we won three league national titles, going undefeated during those three years.

I then became a coach and player with the Biberach Beavers in Germany for three years, played in the GFL with the Stuttgart Scorpions, coached the senior and junior receivers for the Neu-Ulm Spartans and since 2023, I’ve been back with the Biberach Beavers to coach the receivers.

Alongside my player and coach life, I’m now involved in private coaching in south Germany but also in France for receivers with or without experience who wants to learn or perfect their catching skills and become an important part of their team. I’ve been training for 17 years now and intend to continue.

I’ve been lucky enough to coach athletes young and old, and there’s no greater satisfaction than watching them develop to the highest level.

ONE STEP AHEAD OF YOUR OPPONENT

WHAT I FOCUS ON

I do specific Training for the WRs

I do specific trainings and camps for receivers during the offseason, preseason or in the form of private practices.
You hear it often enough. There’s no such thing as an off-season. And whether you’re playing at the highest level or as an amateur, there’s always room for improvement.

TRAINING SESSION

Training sessions are either individual and personalized in order to optimize training as much as possible, or semi-private with a group limited to 8 players. These are open to all receivers, male or female. We target the areas to be worked on in one or more sessions scheduled in advance. We work on the basics of catching techniques as well as the fundamentals of the receiver position. We see the footwork. For instance, The two most important things about footwork are the quickness at the line of scrimmage and the separation. Without release quickness you ain’t getting open, you ain’t going to be able to run the route and as a result not able to make the catch. You have to come on the line with a plan and got to do something to get your Defender off balance.

Emphasis is also placed on changes of direction and the different releases to be adopted when faced with different leverages showed by your defender. We cover routes, breaking them down as much as possible so that you’re comfortable once you’re on the field, and we generally finish with the question of blocking for those who wish, so that your range of skills allows you to respond as effectively as possible.

SKILLS CAMPS

The skill camps are open to all receivers, male or female, wishing to improve their skills over two days of practice entirely dedicated to American football and the position of receiver. The aim of the camps is to improve your game in a rewarding competitive atmosphere. Each player inspires the other and we all pull each other up.

Depending on the number of players who sign up, the camps are divided into different workshops. Some focus on speed, others on releases or footwork. There are group workshops (10 players for a camp of 40 players) where the different drills are practiced. The principle remains the same as for the skills sessions, but here the emphasis is on repetition to built confidence and execution of the drills to avoid mistakes and create muscle memory. It’s always more effective to do the camp in its entirety, i.e. during the two days scheduled, as the drills are largely complementary to the skills sessions.

FAQ

No, training is accessible to beginners and experienced players alike.

However, it’s obvious that a beginner will need more sessions than an experienced player.

Your gloves, or helmet if you wish.

Simply go to the desired section and click on the “book a training session” button for private sessions

Training is open to both men and women.

We cover aspects of the program, mainly speed. This is possible.

Please contact me privately beforehand for this kind of special request.

Bad weather is a great way to see who’s motivated and who’s not. Unless there’s a thunderstorm, the training session goes ahead regardless. In the event of cancellation, we will reschedule a later session.
